Week Two Report: Feelin' Nappy

Week 2 brought a gorgeous day, but as usual the wind was a howlin' at The GC of D. From the north no less. This week there were two golfers (Schoemer and Southie) who managed to post a score under net par, making a grand total of three for the year. So things weren't easy by any means.

Unless your team is The Nappy Headed Bros., that is. The Bros. eased into a 39.5 to 5.5 lambasting of High Stakes, which to the best of anyone's recollection is the most lopsided defeat in league history. Schoemer posted a 47/31 for low net honors, while his pardsie Jorge shot a 58/38. Schoemer cruised 14 to 1 over new guy Brinkman, while the Good Doctor took out Swannie 11.5 to 3.5. Together The NHB won the team match 14 to 1. Ouch. Schoemer has come out of the gate with 13 and 14 point wins in the first two weeks, and has already put some distance between himself and the rest of the field in the Individual race, while The Bros. have likewise staked themselves to a commanding early lead in the Team race.

It's early, but there is a cloud of concern hanging over the Undy-Ni-Ebel camp. The defending Team Champions have opened their title defense with back-to-back losses. In Week One, they got flim-flammed by Smokin' Mirros. In Week Two, they got funked up by KC and The Sunshine Man. Southie blistered the back side with two birdies and a 37/34 that made for a happy day and an 11 to 4 win over ex-pardsie Undy. Ebel was able to rebound from a Week One loss to Smokin' Joe by taking out Budzik, 11.5 to 3.5, but Southie and Budzik were able to lay down the boogie in the team match for a 26 to 19 win. KC & TSM claim third in the Team race after two events.

Hosket followed up his walk-off eagle against The Commash in Week One with a convincing 11.5 to 3.5 win over last week's Player of the Week Smokin' Joe. Despite Shaffer's 5.5 to 9.5 loss to Douger, who was making his first appearance of the new year, Hos led Red Numbers to a 28 to 17 win. Hos sits tied with Southie for 2nd in the Individual and Red Numbers is in 2nd in the Team standings.

Whybrew made his 2007 debut with a solid, MNQ-free 56/37, leading Penn & Teller to a magical 27 to 18 victory over Smarty Pants. It would have been worse but for a brilliant 15 foot birdie putt by Ayers from just off the green on the final hole.

Grinders ground out a 25 to 20 win over Ryan's Hope despite an 11 to 4 win by Webbie over Feller. Burkley fired a steady 41/37 to take out Geraghty 9 to 6 and lead the way in the team match. Grinders has early dibs on 4th place in the Team standings.
