The Week Thirteen Reports have been updated. With a commanding 70 point lead and only five events left to play, Red Numbers would need to step on a certain unmentionable body part, repeatedly, to blow it at this point. Red Numbers has put together perhaps the most dominating team performance in league history. It is pretty safe to say that both Shaffer and Hos will be watching the 2008 Team Selection Draft as nothing more than casual observers.
The Individual Race is still up for grabs. Sandwiched between Shaffer, who maintains his hold on the top spot, and Hos is Burkley, who suffered a rare loss in Week Thirteen to Super Sub John Solis. Doug May and Ryan Webb are still in the picture, while The Commash continues his free fall from the top four. But for everyone else, there is still a lot to play for, individually speaking. The seedings, and the possibility of having to play into the 16 man bracket, for the much anticipated CGA Match Play Championship, are still very much at stake. Also, invitations for the rumored Ryder Cup event between the Actives and the Subs will be issued pursuant first to the order of finish in the Individual Standings and second to availability. In other words, if the event turns out to be 8 against 8, as is anticipated, the first eight finishers will be issued invitations. If someone is unavailable, the next person in the standings will be invited, etc. So just play better.
Speaking of Black Diamond, the availability of the new bunk house has been confirmed. It looks like Balck Diamond is a go. If you already know you are going to have a problem attending the major, which will be held on Saturday, August 25th, please let The Commash know ASAP.
Finally, it looks like one of the most remarkable streaks in CGA history is about to come to an end. Living Legend Peter "The Man With Too Many Nicknames" Ebel has played in every CGA weekly event dating back to the inception of the league. For those keeping track, that is a streak of 115 consecutive weekly events. Needless to say, Ebel has earned a couple of other other nicknames in the process: Iron Man and Ripken. The League Office hates to see this streak come to an end. I think it is safe to say that this record may never be broken in our lifetimes. Congratulations to Pete. Well done sir. You are a model of dedication and devotion to the CGA. Touch 'em all indeed.
