Week One Is In The Books

Geraghty got in a fight with a duck. Hosket holed out from 150 yards on the last hole to post the only red number on the day and Smokin' Joe took down King Kong. He nd Ozzie managed to pull off a stunning upset of Undy-Ni-Ebel in a wild and whacky Week One. It was pretty much all Smokin' Mirrors. Living Legend Once Removed and Now Super Sub Eric Osborn put a 9 to 6 thank-you-very-little on Undy, but it was Smoking Joe's 54/35 that was low net on the night and that, coupled with a 11.5 to 3.5 win over the defending Individual Champion and All Time Leading Money Winner -- in his first appearance as a card carrying CGA member, earns him Player of the Week. Congrats to Smokin' Joe. By the way, your handicap just dropped two shots.

Geraghty took off from the cart area only to find out that he had not secured his bag to the cart, a mistake usually made only by new guys, and his clubs got a nice little asphalt kissy-kiss. "Well, it can't get much worse for him," one CGAer was heard to remark. Not true. On the second hole, Geraghty hit his tee shot over the second green. When he went to retrieve his ProV1, he had to fight for it with a duck that thought it might be one of her duck eggs. Those that witnessed the fight indicated that it was a fairly close contest, with Geraghty ultimately earning a split decision thanks to his trusty five iron.

Hosket came to the final hole in a draw with yours truly. A good tee shot put him right in the middle of the fairway at the 150 marker. I spanked one down the left side and had 115 in. Even though I was spotting Hos a shot, I felt confident. "Game on," I remarked to Lutzie as we walked off the tee. Hos proeceed to two-hop his approach into the hole for a 2 (net 1). Lutz looked at me and said, "Game off." Great shot, Hos.

The reports have all been updated.

Pace of play was really pretty decent considering the conditions. The new rules seemed to be well received. It was great to see everyone and reconnect. Golf league is here. It's all good.
