Stock in Bob Evans dropped for the second consecutive week after an second consecutive earnings report sent investors (and customers) scurrying for the exit. A second super-sized win by High and Mighty put them within 4 points of the lead in the Season Team Standings. And guess who's coming to dinner in Week 13? Misters High and Mighty themselves. Unfortunately for High and Mighty, Pete Ebel will miss the event. Super Sub Dan Freiburger is scheduled to take over for Mighty.
Speaking of Danny Fry, the marquee matchup of Week 11 featured Danny with a 1 cap going up against Andy Shaffer as a 2. Shaffer put what might be the only stroke he will receive all year to good use. Both players registered identical 8 par/1 bogey 37. The one shot Shaffer received on the second hole was the difference int he match, giving Shaffer a much-needed 11 to 4 victory. Meanwhile, Gertaghty blew up (in a good way) with a 50/39 that resulted in a big 12.5 to 2.5 win over Hosket and a an overall 24 to 21 win for Boom Goes the Dynamite.
In other matches, 2008 TEA Champs Burkley and Barrett finally lit it up, burning Carry the Bag convincingly, 34 to 11. Schoe Me Wood squeeked another one off, 23.5 to 21.5, against Rollin' J's. And Higher Stakes continued upward with a lofty 29.5 to 15.5 win over Bob Evans. Higher Stakes now sits in 4th place in the Team Standings, only 31.5 points out of first place.
The Individual Standings now have been compiled usingthe best 8 weeks, meaning the three lowest weekly point totals for each player have been tossed out. The Commash continued his amazing unbeaten streak in Week 11, beating Dr. Tzagournis to claim his tenth consecutive match victory. He now holds a 2 point lead over Budzik and a 5.5 point lead over Shaffer. This Monday The Commash goes head-to-head against his former pardsie Budzik in the de facto Marquee Matchup of Week 12.
REMINDER: The 2008 CGA Match Play Championship will be held on August 23rd. The event is tentatively scheduled to be held at Black Diamond Golf Course, the site of the 2007 Championship.
